Minister Watt will be discussing the important role agriculture, food production and food security plays in global diplomacy, with particular focus on South-East Asia and the Pacific. The recent launch of the Australia's Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, the resolution of trade disruptions with China and Indonesia and the ongoing negotiations with the European Union on a Free Trade Agreement all have agricultural production at their core.

Overcoming the challenges and identifying the opportunities will be a key focus for the Minister in the coming years, as the Australian Government navigates changing global political alliances, the rising threat of climate change and the increasing food security problems for our near neighbours. Minister Watt will discuss how the Government is preparing Australia for these challenges both internationally and domestically.
