Over the past twenty years, India has emerged as a major economy and a pivotal power in the Indo-Pacific. At the same time, India has undergone a political revolution, as Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP - Indian People's Party) has established itself as the dominant force in the nation. This event will look back at the 2024 election campaign and look forward to what India's new government will likely do at home and abroad. It will analyse the reasons for the rise of the BJP and of Modi himself, the Hindu Right's domestic and foreign policy agenda, and the prospects for India to successful consolidate a position as a major power in a contested and multipolar Indo-Pacific.
