After more than three years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it is estimated that over half a million people have been either killed or maimed and several million displaced. While Donald Trump famously came to the White House claiming he could end the war within 24 hours if elected and has upended the relations with Ukraine and with Europe since being inaugurated, the prospects for a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia remain slim. There remains considerable uncertainty as to whether Donald Trump's agenda extends beyond achievement of some commercial advantage with respect to Ukrainian resources and possibly some restoration of relations between the USA and Russia. Richard Iron will provide an assessment of the current state of negotiations to end the war and whether the conditions exist to achieve a lasting peace.
