Ed Cavanough is a journalist, researcher and policy analyst, and CEO of progressive think tank, the McKell Institute. His writing has appeared in The Saturday Paper, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian, The South China Morning Post and The Australian, and includes reporting from Solomon Islands, China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Timor Leste, and beyond. Tess Newton Cain is the Project Lead for the Pacific Hub at the Griffith Asia Institute. She is a dual citizen of the UK and Vanuatu and has 25 years of experience working in the Pacific, the bulk of which was spent living in Vanuatu. She is a former Lecturer in Law at the University of the South Pacific. She has worked as an adviser to the Office of the President of Vanuatu, national governments, regional organisations and development partners with a particular focus on governance issues. She regularly provides media commentary in Australia, New Zealand, and globally on Pacific politics, policy, and development.
