Misa Mojarrabi

Misa Mojarrabi

Misa completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology.

Misa undertook her New Colombo Plan program in Thailand and Japan, participating in internships across a wide variety of sectors including education (primary school setting), mental health (addiction recovery), and health care (traditional medicine). Through her time abroad, Misa had the opportunity to glean insights from both an Eastern and Western perspective across different sectors and learnt what adaptive, creative, and collaborative health care can look like.

Misa is passionate about the instrumental role that a nurturing relationship with food and body can have in cultivating both physical and mental well-being.

Jared is a fourth-year student studying a double degree in Sustainable Business / Public Policy at Griffith University in Nathan.

In 2023 he was awarded the New Colombo Plan fellowship to study municipal solid waste management in Japan.

This opportunity allowed him to re-evaluate how he views waste policy and solutions, with one of his current passions now being Repair Cafes.

Jared hopes to one day work in a policy advisory role surrounding sustainability in cities, hoping to build strong, eco-friendly communities that are resilient to climate change.

Lachlan Power (Graduate Data Scientist at Suncorp)

Lachlan Power

Graduate Data Scientist at Suncorp

Lachlan is a Graduate Data Scientist working at Suncorp (Insurance). In his time at university, he studied a Bachelor of Business (Economics) with a Minor in Engineering. These topics captured his interest because, to him, they interpreted how the world worked in both the sense of the people who built it and the materials they used.

The pandemic made Lachlan forget about his hopes to one day study overseas. But, in his final year, a chance encounter and some encouragement from a former tutor inspired Lachlan to reignite this hope. With the help of the NPC mobility grant, he travelled to Mumbai, India with a group of peers to participate in a Development Economics Project that assisted 2 NGOs (Hindusthan Microfinance & The OSCAR Foundation) in their mission to improve the social and economic wellbeing of their communities. This work provided the opportunity for Lachlan and his peers to engage with real families in real communities and to apply what they have learned to quantify the impact that these organisations are having.

Lachlan is loves to understand things and to solve problems, especially when those solutions can have a positive impact on the lives of people. As he moves towards the end of his graduate program, he hopes to find a permanent role where he can dedicate his time to doing just that.
