Dr Ederer is currently the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Australia. As a career diplomat, he has previously held significant positions within the diplomatic services of Germany and the European Union. Prior to assuming his post in Australia, he was Ambassador of the European Union to Russia, State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office and Ambassador of the European Union to China and Mongolia. Dr Ederer has an array of experience in the fields of international security, economic policy, and public diplomacy. He holds academic qualifications in Law, International Relations and Political Science from the University of Passau (Germany), the University of Geneva and the University of Miami. Apart from German, he speaks English, Russian and French
